Power 2 the people

Last night i was sitting on our couch and listened to an audiobook as we had an power outage. Ok nothing dramatic but, it happens a lot here. So i don't wonder why a view years ago the half east cost of the states had a blackout for a view days.
Ok it is maybe german thinking...
...but would it not be cheaper on the long term to burry the powerlines in the ground, instead of fixing them after every thuderstorm?

But what do i know? I'am just a guest here.
