Chicago

Kat & me been to Chicago for the long Thanksgiving weekend.

We filled up our bells with food on Thursday, just to make sure we where not able to walk.

We didn't fall for the American the x-mas decoration delusion on Friday (In the USA they start with the x-mas decoration the day after Thanksgiving).

We just jumped in the car and drove to Chicago. Katrin booked a nice hotel on wacker dr for us. The room was on the 33rd floor with river view, great for nightly motion shots with the camera. Because it was Black Friday, the streets and shops where busy, but i thought it would be worse. Even downtown Chicago was not that bad. So we went to the Christkindl market in Chicago which is the sister market to Nürnberg Germany. It's a nice Christkindl market which is not really the real deal but close. We wanted to drink Glühwein, but the temperatures where way to warm for Glühwein (62 F / 17 C). The Americans didn't care, it was a kind of opportunity to drink alcohol on the streets without a brown paper bag. Glühwein was a bit pricey too ($7 for 250ml).

We saw some segway there too including a Police Segway. They are cool but a bit pricey. Maybe we take a segway tour in Chicago next year.

From there we went to Millennium Park, went shopping to Macy's and got me a nice blazer and shirt because i missed my blazer at home. Kat fitted me out.

For dinner we went to the wave restaurant we found on www.Opentable.com, which we discovered, was a tappa bar. Very good food, nice atmosphere even when it is attached to a hotel cocktail bar with fine house tunes. For Chicago it was not cheap and not pricey.

After dinner we went to Blueman Group what was hilarious and amazing.

On Saturday we walked trough downtown, had breakfast at the Corner Bakery and went to the sky deck on sears tower. In the elevator with us was H.P.Baxxter from Scooter with his wife and some friends. My American readers probably won't know him because Techno Music is not that big in the USA.

Before we headed back, we stopped at Heaven on Seven for dinner.

Overall rating: Great holiday weekend!
