After 75 hours we have finally power again. On Thursday evening the power went out.
Power Outages are common here, at least onces a week. The Power grid in the US is not as over engineered as in Germany, actually they service their network under power, because no one wants to take lines out of service.
It is funny how dependent we are on power. Except Travis - he just needs internet ;-).

The first 20 hours are no big deal. All your devices like MP3 player and notebook can cover that by efficient use. Your cell phone will cover too. Ok cooking gets hard with an electric stove.

After 30 hours even the cell phone started to give up, i don't mention the notebook or iPOD.
You go out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even for coffee.

After 40 hours you just want to beat up every power company worker, it doesn't really matter to you if it his fault, or if he could fix it.

After 60 hours you just want to shoot at the neighbors power generator.

After 70 hours you just live with it. You rescue a hole chicken out of your freezer and fire up the grill. ( Back to the roots, the only difference is we have real clothes and hot running water in the cave because the water heater works with gas)

And after 75 hours you are surprised when the lights go on and switch them of because its bed time.

I used the chance to make some long exposure night shots in our street.
